Guest Speakers: Anna Hotzan and Vera Guttke

This event was very successful. We were very pleased to welcome two visitors from Werben in Lower Lusatia as our Guest Speakers: Anna Hotzan and Vera Guttke. They gave a PowerPoint presentation and showed a “Welcome to Werben” video, taking viewers on a journey through Werben as it is today.

Donation of a Lower Sorbian Festive Costume

At the Luncheon, Anna assisted Vera in putting on the handmade traditional Lower Sorbian festive costume which belonged to their grandmother. Putting on a costume is a meticulous, time-consuming process, as many pins are required to secure the intricate pieces.
We were overwhelmed when Anna and Vera informed us of their wish to donate the costume to our Society.  We are very grateful to them for their thoughtful and
generous gift. This costume is a significant addition to our Society’s collection. The more we learn about the costume, the more special it has become!
